University of Dubrovnik

University of Dubrovnik is the youngest university in Croatia established in 2003 on the foundations of a long tradition which goes back to the 17th century. At that time Collegium Ragusinum, the first public institution of higher education in Dubrovnik, was founded. Ruđer Bošković, the most eminent Croatian scientist was a student there.

Modern higher education starts with the Maritime College, then Faculty for Tourism and Foreign Trade, Maritime Faculty and Polytechnic of Dubrovnik, leading to the foundation of University of Dubrovnik. By its study programes, its organization and technical equipment, University of Dubrovnik stands among very modern higher educational institutions.

University of Dubrovnik offers courses in science of navigation, marine engineering, marine electrical engineering and communication technologies, business and applied information technology, aquaculture, economy and business studies, mass communication and restoration.

At the moment there are 2600 students with 200 faculty staff engaged in lecturing and professional and research work.

5th Mediterranean Fair of Healthy Food and Medicinal Herbs

Organizer of the 5th Mediterranean Fair of Healthy Food and Medicinal Herbs is Dubrovnik – Healthy City Association established in 1990. The Association is a member of Croatian Network of Healthy Cities based on Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 38 targets of Health for All by the Year 2000, 19 goals of the European Social Charter, and Declaration on the Human Environment.

Traditional fifth gathering of organic food and medicinal herbs producers from Croatia with special focus on the entire Mediterranean.

Basic aims:

· To include as much Mediterranean countries as possible

· To increase consciousness about dependency of life quality on nature, its protection and sustainability, through lectures, round tables, workshops and conferences

· To evaluate comparative advantages that enable progress in the production of high quality organic food and medicinal herbs, and create conditions for Croatia to resist trends of the synthetic (GMO, additives etc.) food

· To strengthen promotion of the Croatian products by improving connections of the producer with the final consumer (tourist catering and trade)

· To promote production and purchase of the medicinal herbs

· Dubrovnik-Neretva county, one of the region for promotion and production of organic food in the Mediterranean is the thirteenth Croatian county declared GMO Free region.

We have established special rewards for the best presentation, the best product, the best vegetable product and the promotion of organic economy in Croatia.

Sveučilište u Dubrovniku

 

Sveučilište u Dubrovniku je najmlađe hrvatsko sveučilište, osnovano je 2003. godine na temeljima tradicije, koja seže do u 17. stoljeće. Tad je, naime, započeo s radom Collegium Rhagusinum, prva javna visokoobrazovna ustanova u Dubrovniku, koju je završio i Ruđer Bošković.

Moderno visoko obrazovanje počinje s Višom pomorskom školom, potom Fakultetom za vanjsku trgovinu i turizam, Pomorskim fakultetom te Veleučilištem u Dubrovniku. Sljednik svih njih je Sveučilište u Dubrovniku. Ono je po svojim programima, po svojoj organizaciji i tehničkoj opremljenosti suvremena visokoškolska ustanova.

Na Sveučilištu u Dubrovniku izvode se studiji iz područja: nautike, brodostrojarstva, strojarstva, elektrotehnike, elektronike i komunikacija, poslovnog i primijenjenog računarstva, akvakulture, ekonomije i poslovne ekonomije, komunikologije, te restauracije.

Na Sveučilištu trenutno studira 2600 studenata dok nastavnu, stručnu i znanstvenu djelatnost na Sveučilištu obavlja 200 obrazovnih i znanstvenih djelatnika.
